Orchestra Information

Wilson Jr. High School Orchestra is designed to provide a high quality orchestra experience for young and developing strings. In addition to developing skills in blend and balance, all students focus on the areas of fundamental right and left-hand skill development, vibrato, articulation, intonation, rhythm, tone production, and dynamics as appropriate to their individual instrument.

The Wilson Orchestra and its feeder pattern inspires students at all levels to expand their passion for music and to be their personal best. Both periods 1 and 2 have been carefully structured so that students placement be appropriate to their skill level. The full range of this program gives every student a place to become their personal best in the midst of others at a similar level.

Intermediate - 6th Grade Orchestra: Teaches intermediate music skills to strings covering areas of articulation, intonation, rhythm, tone production, and dynamics. Students should have at least one or two years of experience on their instrument or private instruction.

Beginning Orchestra - 5th Grade Orchestra: Provides an opportunity for students with no experience or a beginning level string player to engage the orchestral setting. The ensemble focuses on teaching beginning level skills such as fingering, tone quality, pitch identification and sight-reading to first year string students. The goal of this ensemble is to let beginning students further their abilities.

Wilson feeder schools include: De Anza, Desert Garden, Harding, Hedrick, Sunflower and Washington Elementary Schools.
